I am currently living in Lexington with my husband (Bre) and my son (Mr. Power).

Driving Annoyances

Winter is here.  You know it kind of happens every year around this time.  It gets cold, it snows, maybe sleets.  This is Kentucky, not Florida so this is kind of expected.  At least by me.  Apparently the rest of Kentucky think it lives in The South and though their general attitudes may suggest this, geography does not.  Each time we have winter weather here, everyone flips out and they preemptively cancel everything, just in case.  They also drive like idiots (though I am sure that this is not unique to KY).  I agree one should not try to drive like Dale Earnhardt (a fav around here, may he RIP) when it is precipitating, but at the same time the following are not only not acceptable, but almost as dangerous:

1.  driving 15-20 miles below the speed limit

2.  driving in the middle of the road so as not to get too close to the side where there may be snow/ice

3.  not using your turn signal

4.  talking on your cell phone - really if you have to drive 15 miles below the speed limit because you are nervous about driving in the “bad” weather you had better not be on your freakin’ phone

5.  not clearing the snow/ice off your car so as you accelerate it flies off the back and causes the driver behind you to swerve in order to avoid getting hit with it

I also don’t get why it is that I live in a huge neighborhood with a school in it and hundreds of homes and yet, my street has so obviously not been cleared or even salted.

The above annoy me and cause me to be disgruntled instead of enjoying the beautiful snow and celebrating the fact that I actually know how to drive sensibly in it.
